EMS Certification

Initial EMS Certification

Initial EMS certification requires attendence in a formalized training class, traditionally Emergency Medical Technician. During the class, students complete both classroom and practical scenarios. Students benefit from State certified EMT instructors, most with many years of experience. These instructors are always happy to bring their experiences to the training, to give the studens a more real perspective of life on the street.

Upon completion of the EMT course, students proceed to testing by State certified evaluators. Historically, students from the Chester County program(s) have scored higher than the State averages in all areas, with most classes having a higher than 90 % certification rate. Schedules for classes can be found on this site, and those with questions about the training process are always welcome to contact the Department of Emergency Services at (610) 344- 5000, and a member of the Regional Staff will answer all of your questions.
